Lagos, Nigeria – Operatives of the Lagos State Command have intensified efforts to apprehend a gang of armed robbers, which allegedly gang-raped a lady at gunpoint and robbed her of valuables.

According to the information at hand, it was gathered that the incident happened at College Bus Stop at about 11pm.
Having satisfied themselves, they robbed her of her mobile phone and other valuables and escaped. She then went to the Police at Ikotun Division and reported what happened when she was returning from work.
The Police moved into action and arrested one of the suspects, a 22-year old man, Adegun Segun and detained him at the station for interrogation over their alleged conduct.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable as he refused to mention the identity of his accomplices.
He was later charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for conspiracy, robbery and statutory rape.
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector Okeh Chekwube, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Odubayo, ordered his remand in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
