Phone Theft Ring Busted in Bauchi, Minors Arrested

Bauchi, Nigeria –Two minors have been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly stealing mobile phones from a shop Wunti Market in Bauchi City Centre.

The duo identified as Hamza Sadiq and Adamu Ahmadu, both 15 years old were nabbed based on intelligent tips.

According to gathering, the teenagers were both students at Bakari-Dukku Comprehensive Secondary School, Bauchi.

Prior to their arrest, a shop owner from Wunti Market had filed a complaint with the police over the disappearance of about 100 mobile phones, 75 MP4 players, 30 cell phone batteries, 50 external memory cards and a Bluetooth headset.

Speaking with reporters in Bauchi on Friday, Spokesperson of Bauchi State Police Command, SP Ahmed Wakil said the suspects were linked to a major robber.

Wakil said about 21 mobile phones, 5 MP4 players, a mobile phone charger, and a metal key used in the crime were recovered from the suspected minors.

He explained that the suspects secured the key to the shop and carefully timing their moves, the suspects repeatedly looted the shop while the owner was away.
