A yet-to-be identified person has been confirmed dead while four others sustained various degrees of injuries as an 18-seater bus rammed into 4 motorcycles popularly called okada along Bodija road in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Independent reports that the commuter bus according to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) officials at the scene during the rescue operation, was said to have skidded off its lane to the other lane where it rammed into the four (4) motorcycles moving in the opposite direction and brushed another Camry car on the side.
According to DCC Benedict A. Effanga, the Head of Unit, Disaster Management, NSCDC, Oyo state State Command, the unfortunate incident happened at about 1644hrs on Wednesday (yesterday) June 22.
“The commuter bus skid off its lane to the other lane where it rammed into 4 motorcycles moving in the opposite direction and brushed another Camry car on the side.
“According to a preliminary investigation by the NSCDC, it was revealed that the cause of the accident was due to brake failure.
“The Commuter bus was damaged along with the Camry car while the motorcycles were crushed and seriously damaged”.

The corpse has since been taken off the road and the free flow of traffic was immediately restored by the NSCDC officials after a brief gridlock.
