Six persons have been rescued by officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Upper-Iweka area, Onitsha on Wednesday evening when multiple vehicles crashed in the area.

The fatal road crash, unfortunately, claimed one life as the victims died on reaching the hospital and his remains have been deposited in the morgue.
The report is according to a statement signed by Margaret B Onabe, Acting Sector Public Education Officer on behalf of the Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi.
“Some unidentified drivers; a commercial Daihatsu Hijet bus with Registration number: AKL978XM Commercial Howo Truck with registration number: AWK899ZQ and a commercial Mitsubishi L300 bus with registration number: SKA439XA were involved in the fatal road traffic crash at old Asaba park by Awka-Onitsha Expressway today about 15:30hrs.”, reads the statement.
The Road Safety officials believed that the probable cause of the fatal crash was attributed to over speeding and brake failure.
According to eyewitness as reported by Daily Independent, the truck driver who absconded from the scene of the accident was on speed, failed brake and while trying to get control of the vehicle, ramed into the two buses and crashed.

Two male adults and three female adults were involved in the crash, it added.
One male adult was killed while two male adults and two female adults were injured.
The FRSC rescue team from RS5.31A Upper-Iweka Onitsha Anambra State rushed the victims to Toronto hospital Onitsha where the male adult was confirmed dead and his corpse deposited at same hospital mortuary while the injured victims are currently receiving treatment.
The team also cleared the obstruction caused by the crash was as the Sector Commander Anambra State Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi while sympathizing with the family of the dead victim, wished the injured victims quick recovery.
