Kaduna, Nigeria – Operatives of the police command in Kaduna says a man has been arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend by severing her hand.

The man was rescued by the police from a mob who attempted to lynch him at NEPA Roundabout, a popular area in the state.
The command’s public relations officer, Muhammad Jalige confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Friday in Kaduna.
Jalige said, on April 14 at about 9:30 p.m., the command received a distress call about a mob action at NEPA Roundabout in the Kaduna metropolis where an unruly crowd was about to lynch a man.

“Operatives were immediately mobilised to the scene. On getting there, they met the suspect lying unconscious and surrounded by a crowd,“ stated the police.
According to the issued statement, information gathered revealed that the suspect attacked his girlfriend for jilting him.
The incident occurred at Old Command Secondary and Nursery School, Sokoto Road, Kaduna, with a machete and inflicted multiple injuries on her face, arms and hands.
The police said during the attack, the man severed her left hand.
“The victim was rushed to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital for treatment. A doctor on duty confirmed she was dead. The corpse of the lady has been deposited at the same hospital for an autopsy,” added the statement.
