A commercial motorcycle rider (okada rider), Mr. Donatus Mathew, under the Labour Party (LP) has emerged as the winner of Kaura federal constituency of Kaduna State.
Mr. Mathew was declared winner by the returning officer, Prof. Elijah Ella, on Sunday after gathering 10,508 votes to defeat the incumbent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Gideon Lucas Gwani, who came second with 10,297 votes.
Followed as the third, Ella said the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate polled 9,919 votes, while the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) secured 5,354 votes to secure fourth position.
After his declaration as the winner, Mathew tendered appreciation to the electorate for the confidence reposed in him to represent them at the Federal level.
