Lagos, Nigeria – The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) management has reacted to a fire incident that hits its National Office located at Yaba, Lagos on Wednesday morning.
The educational body said all important documents as well as records are untouched despite the widely reported fire outbreak.
An early report, monitored on a Lagos radio, Bond FM, explained that firefighters from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) arrived at the scene of the incident to extinguish the fire.
It was also alleged that a staff of the council was trapped in between some floors was observed attempting to jump through the windows of the 12-floor magnificent building to escape being suffocated.
However, a statement by Head, Public Affairs Department, Moyosola Adesina, debunk intense causalities as it assured all important documents and records are intact after an early morning fire gutted it’s National office.

”WAEC wishes to inform the general public that there was an early morning fire incident at the WAEC National Office, Yaba, Lagos.
“It was swiftly contained by a combined team of fire fighters. Thankfully, no life was lost and all important documents and records are intact.” said Adesina.
