Elections 2023: Dutch Nigerian, Wiebe Boer Declares for Governorship Race

Wiebe Boer, a Dutch man who naturalised as a Nigerian, has taken a bold step and declared his interest to run for the governorship in Plateau state come the 2023 general elections.

According to PM News, Maigona has lived in Jos all his life, the state capital, and is said to be as fluent in Hausa as he is in English, having attended a secondary school in the city.

Maigona is the CEO of All On Energy, which is involved in renewable energy, such as solar power and also has an affiliation with Pan African Writers Association(PAWA).

Back in 2021, the Dutch Nigerian interviewed Professor Wole Soyinka, the first guest of PAWA’s Conversation Series.

According to a report of THIS DAY in 2018, Boer having birthed in Nigeria and lived in the country for much of his life had though nominally fulfilled the conditions of naturalization – which says you must have resided in Nigeria for a continuous period of 15 years, was denied the citizenship when he applied.
