Court Hands Evans 21 years Jail Term

Lagos, Nigeria – The Ikeja Special Offences Court has sentenced kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, and his co-defendant, Victor Aduba, to 21 years imprisonment for kidnapping one Sylvanus Hafia.

Evans is sentenced to 21 years jail term for kidnapping

On Monday, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the High Court made this verdict. However, they pleaded not guilty to the four charges, Daily Independent reports.

Recall that Evans was accused of conspiring and kidnapping Hafia on June 23, 2014, at Kara Street, Amuwo Odofin in Lagos and were alleged to have captured and detained Hafia and demanded a ransom of $2m.

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) had described him as one of the richest criminals in the kidnapping activities in Nigeria. In some of his operations, he made amounts of up to 1 million dollars.
The Inspector General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigeria police force also described him as a very smart, crafty, and intelligent kidnapper having evaded arrest for four years even though he was on a most wanted list in three states (Edo, Anambra and Lagos state).
