Reports reaching Newswebbs unveiled that bandits have again launched attack at Gatikawa community in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina, resulting to the death of no fewer than eight people including five policemen.
The gunmen, according to reports, stormed the village on motorcycles, going from one house to the other and carting away valuables including money and food items.
As the raid goes on, five policemen on special duty from Kano state in the community, three villagers were killed in the process while several others were severely injured.
Katsina police spokesman SP Gambo Isah has confirmed the incident.
“The terrorists were well over 300 and they were fully armed. The five policemen are from Kano state and they were on special duty at Gatikaw

”The terrorists attacked them at 6.45 p.m and also killed three civilians. Investigation is already in progress over the matter.” He said.
It would be recalled that last month, an Area Commander, ACP Aminu Umar, and one officer from the Kastina State Police Command in the Zakka forest of Safana local government area of the state were murdered by bandits.
In a similar case, earlier this month, suspected terrorists attacked the convoy of cars conveying President Muhammadu Buhari’s advance team of security guards, protocol and media officers, near Dutsinma in Katsina State, killing two policemen in the process.
However, the efforts of the government in clamping down the deadly bandits have not really become evident as up to five states in the north are currently facing recurrent attacks.
