Warri, Nigeria – A twelve-persons passenger boat has capsized in Ughoton River, near Warri Delta State, leaving nine (9) persons missing.
According to a resident in Ughoton community, the incident occurred around 9.35pm on Thursday June 2023, and out of twelve passengers onboard only three were able to make it to the shores.
The Source identified as Jolomi Amos lamented that the hour of night and the area where the boat capsized made it difficult for local divers to immediately come for rescue.
In his exact words, ”As we speak nine of the twelves passengers are missing, while three survivals have been taken to the hospital for medical care.”

The source stated that the circumstances resounding the boat mishap was unclear, noting that the boat was traveling from a neighbouring community to Ughoton when the accident occurred.
He further said local divers and other volunteers are currently on a search and rescue mission for the missing passengers.
