Kogi, Nigeria – A total number of three persons were confirmed dead, and two others were seriously injured as two petroleum tankers collided and caught fire at the Felele end of Lokoja, Kogi State capital.
Newswebbs learnt that the commander of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) in the state, Stephen Dawulung who confirmed the accident attributed the incidence to “over-speeding and dangerous overtaking”.
According to an eye witness account, the accident is as a result of “a head-on collision between the petrol-laden tanker and another tanker coming from the opposite direction”.
Aside from the dead, many people sustained various degrees of burns and are receiving treatment at medical facilities in Lokoja, while shops and some vehicles parked around the scene of the incident were burnt.
