The Anambra State Police Command have rescued fifteen (15) corps members who were abducted in Anambra State on their way to Lagos, on Tuesday morning.
While delivering the account of the incident, Tochukwu Ikenga, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in a statement said that by 11:15 am on Tuesday the operatives responded to a distress call along Isseke, Ihiala road, and rescued unhurt 15 abducted Corps members from NYSC Orientation Camp, Eziama-Obaire, in Nkwerre local government area of Imo State.
The Corps members, according to the statement had finished their three weeks of orientation programmes on February 14 and were en route to Lagos before their vehicle was intercepted at Total filling Station junction, Ihiala, by yet unidentified armed men in unmarked white Toyota Hilux.
“Their vehicle was diverted to Isseke, Ihiala-Orlu expressway where the gunmen kept them hostage.
The armed men noticing they were being followed by Police Operatives abandoned the Corps members and zoomed off with the Toyota Hiace bus with Reg Nos: EPE 353 YE conveying the Corpers”.

According to Ikenga, the Corps members have been debriefed by police operatives and necessary arrangements were perfected to convey them back to their destinations.
